Esperanza Aguirre dimite acorralada por la corrupción

Con los ojos llorosos, visiblemente afectada y sin admitir preguntas de los medios de comunicación, Esperanza Aguirre dijo adiós este lunes. Adiós a la política. Adiós a su acta de concejal en el Ayuntamiento. Adiós a la portavocía del PP en el consistorio madrileño. 

 

 

Días después de que su delfín, su sucesor en la Comunidad de Madrid, Ignacio González, ingresase en prisión por su implicación en la Operación Lezo, Aguirre firmó su marcha de la política. Lo hizo, según señaló, por no haber sabido vigilar a González, el hombre al que puso en el Gobierno de la Comunidad de Madrid cuando ella se marchó en 2012. El hombre al que nombró secretario general del PP en sustitución de otro encarcelado, Francisco Granados.

 

Explicó Aguirre a los medios que desde comienzos de los 80, González había sido de su máxima confianza. Admitió que en esos años algunos medios le atribuyeron actuaciones “incorrectas”. Ella le pidió explicaciones, él se las dio. Y ella le creyó: “No vigilé mas”, dijo.

 

“En algunos momentos de mi presidencia, algunos medios le señalaron como inmerso en asuntos que podrían ser calificados de incorrectos. Le pedí explicaciones y me las dio en privado de manera exhaustiva. Y ahora me siento engañada y traicionada”.

 

“Este auto [judicial] demuestra que no vigilé todo lo que debía”, añadió.

 

“Los ciudadanos tienen derecho a exigir que los políticos asumamos las responsabilidades con dignidad, sin dilaciones y sin excusas. Y yo tengo cono norma de conducta no eludir nunca responsabilidades”, añadió.

 

Esperanza Aguirre comunicó al presidente del Gobierno y líder del PP, Mariano Rajoy, su decisión de dimitir en un mensaje de texto enviado por el móvil. Aguirre optó por no llamar a Rajoy, que se encuentra de visita oficial en Brasil. Además, personal de confianza de Aguirre comunicó a la dirección nacional su decisión poniéndose en contacto con el coordinador general del partido, Fernando Martínez-Maíllo.

 

La de este lunes puede considerarse la tercera dimisión de Aguirre en los últimos años. En septiembre de 2012 anunció que se marchaba de la presidencia de la Comunidad y dejaba la institución en manos de González. En febrero de 2016 dejó el liderazgo del PP de Madrid en plena ebullición de la Púnica. En el PP creen que ahora va a ser la definitiva.

 

El silencio de Génova

Horas antes, el Comité de Dirección de los conservadores, presidido por María Dolores de Cospedal, se había reunió este lunes para abordar las novedades de la investigación de la Operación Lezo, pero no se habló sobre el futuro de Esperanza Aguirre, según fuentes conocedoras del contenido de la reunión.

 

Fue después Pablo Casado, portavoz de la formación, el que el rueda de prensa fijo la posición al respecto asegurando que desde Génova nadie ha pedido a la expresidenta del PP de Madrid que dimitiese. «Pensamos que ella es quien tiene que tomar las decisiones, pero a nivel orgánico ya las tomó», señaló el vicesecretario de Comunicación.

 

El entorno de Rajoy conoce a la perfección la capacidad de resistencia de Aguirre. En los últimos años no pudieron con ella ni el escándalo de Caja Madrid, ni la Púnica, ni su actuación, en contra de Rajoy, en los meses previos al XVI Congreso Nacional del PP de 2008.

 

Cuando Casado hablaba de que su exjefa ya había tomado decisiones a nivel orgánico, se refería a que hace más de un año, en febrero de 2016, Aguirre presentó su dimisión como líder del PP de Madrid en plena ebullición de la Operación Púnica. En estas fechas el principal señalado era Francisco Granados, el hombre al que había hecho secretario general del partido y sobre el que en su día depositó las consejerías de Presidencia, Justicia e Interior de la Comunidad de Madrid.

 

Casado abogó por «desligar» la esfera del Ayuntamiento de Madrid de la responsabilidad a la hora de elegir colaboradores.

 

«No hay ninguna acusación contra ella. Las decisiones que ella tome, tendría que hacerlo a título particular», subrayó.

 

Tras su anuncio, la dirección nacional del PP emitió un breve y frió comunicado de dos párrafos en el que respeta la decisión de Aguirre, reconoce su «trayectoria política» y considera que «ha sido una persona relevante» para la organización.
