De aquí que proponga a los colegios una visita a sus establecimientos. Como explicaba una madre indignada con la visita que la escuela de su hijo había organizado a un McDonald’s en Córdoba, el siguiente paso es que el niño pida ir a comer ahí unas hamburguesas. Este es el objetivo de la multinacional.
McDonald’s no és la única. Cualquier gran empresa alimentaria que tenga en su target a público en edad escolar, propone este tipo de actividades. También Coca-cola, Chupa Chups, Bimbo, Danone y Nestlé organizan habitualmente tours escolares a las empresas y lo que esperan los alumnos es una petita degustación o un lote de productos para llevarse a casa. Esto, más que una actividad pedagógica, es una acción directa de marketing. Escuelas y familias implicadas deberían tenerlo en cuenta.
Pero, ¿qué tipo de productos venden estas multinacionales? Se trata de alimentos altamente procesados, con grasas saturadas y azúcar y sal añadidos que tienen consecuencias nefastas para nuestra salud. Los datos de la ONG Justícia Alimentària son contundentes: 90 mil personas mueren cada año en el Estat espanyol como consecuencia de enfermedades relacionadas con la alimentación insana. Un 70% de la dieta de la población se basa en este tipo de productos. Los centros educativos, más que allanar el camino a las empresas del sector, deberían denunciar sus prácticas. Por suerte, cada vez son más las escuelas que promueven una mirada crítica hacia este modelo de alimentación, con huertos urbanos y comedores escolares ecológicos, por ejemplo. Los niños son el principal objectivo de la industria agroalimentaria: un 70% de los anuncios en horario infantil son alimentos insanos de estas empresas.
Pero aquí no terminan las “amistades peligrosas” entre los centros educativos y el sector. Hace unos meses saltó a la luz, a raíz de la denuncia de una familia en las redes sociales, que en las escuelas, a las familias de P3, se les repartía una guía infantil de la Generalitat de Catalunya, bajo el título “Un infant que creix”, que incluía, en las páginas finales, una serie de consejos alimentarios, contrarios a las recomendaciones de la Organización Mundial de Salud, patrocinados por Cola Cao, Nocilla y Danone. La administración pública, al servicio de todos, no puede ser cómplice de los intereses privados de estas multinacionales.
