«Es un gran acuerdo para Europa y para España; no les quepa duda que hoy se ha escrito una de las páginas más brillantes de la historia de la Unión Europea», ha declarado Pedro Sánchez.
España recibirá unos 140.000 millones de euros del fondo de recuperación europeo, de los que 72.700 millones se darán en ayudas directas, según ha anunciado el presidente del Gobierno, Pedro Sánchez, al valorar el acuerdo alcanzado hoy por el Consejo sobre dicho fondo y el marco financiero plurianual.

Y ha destacado el hecho de que en términos absolutos España sale con prácticamente la misma cantidad que propuso para el país la Comisión en la primera propuesta que hizo para el fondo.
Un auténtico Plan Marshall
Pedro Sánchez ha definido este acuerdo también como «un auténtico Plan Marshall» para dar respuesta contundente a la crisis de la covid-19 pero también para abordar las transformaciones que el país necesita en el futuro, y ha destacado el hecho «inédito» de que la Comisión Europea se vaya a endeudar por primera vez para financiar el fondo.
El jefe del Ejecutivo español ha dicho entender que se haya impulsado el llamado «freno de emergencia» porque ante un instrumento tan importante como el fondo, y dado que todos a una se van a endeudar para financiarlo, es normal que se quiera velar sobre cómo se gasten los planes y programas.
Además, ha señalado que, como él pedía, este método de control no rompe el equilibrio institucional ni degrada la posición de la Comisión Europa.
Y sobre la confianza mayor o menor que otros países puedan tener sobre las reformas españolas, ha recordado que la agenda del país está «alineada» con la de la Comisión Europea.
«Hoy todos los europeos ganamos y la Unión Europea sale mucho más fuerte», ha insistido Sánchez, para quien la negociación de este acuerdo ha sido un «reto extraordinario» que ha requerido un «trabajo extenuante» pero cuyo resultado «ha merecido la pena».
