Tragedia en una residencia de ancianos de Valencia: seis muertos y 15 heridos, tres de ellos graves, por un incendio
Unos 70 residentes tuvieron que ser desalojados por el fuego, originado en la primera planta del edificio.
El Ayuntamiento de la localidad valenciana ha decretado tres días de luto oficial, hasta el próximo viernes 21 de enero.
Seis personas murieron y 15 han resultado heridas, tres de ellas de gravedad, en un incendio declarado este martes por la noche en una residencia de ancianos de Moncada (Valencia), según informó Emergencias de la Generalitat.
Cinco residentes fallecieron en el interior de la residencia mientras que la sexta víctima mortal lo hizo en el centro hospitalario en la que fue evacuada. Además, hubo otras dos atenciones en el lugar del siniestro.
Según la información facilitada hasta el momento por el Centro de Información y Coordinación de Urgencias (CICU), cinco de los seis fallecidos son tres hombres de entre 67 y 76 años y dos mujeres de 78 y 95 años.
El incendio se produjo sobre las 23.21 horas en el centro, situado en la calle Mayor del municipio valenciano, y obligó al desalojo de 70 residentes de forma preventiva.
El fuego comenzó en una habitación de la primera planta, según ha explicado el inspector jefe del Consorcio de Bomberos de Valencia, José Miguel Basset, quien ha señalado que cuando llegaron a la residencia se encontraron «gran cantidad de personas pidiendo auxilio y atrapadas por el humo».
Según ha señalado, el incendio estaba «totalmente desarrollado, con mucha gente pidiendo auxilio, sobre todo en la planta superior», y procedieron a rescatar «muchísimas personas, unas 20 o 25, de las habitaciones del ala afectada y del piso superior».
