Gandia, 12 de setembre 2018.- L’Alcaldessa de Gandia, Diana Morant, acompanyada de la regidora d’Esports, Lydia Morant, han rebut aquest matí a l’Alcaldia l’atleta del Club de Córrer El Garbí, Héctor Cabrera, qui ha acudit juntament el president del club gandià, Ximo Mas.
L’atleta, enrolat en el Projecte FER de la Fundació Trinidad Alfonso és dels esportistes saforencs més reconeguts dins i fóra del territori valencià. El darrer èxit, el va aconseguir a finals d’agost a Berlí, on es va proclamar Campió d’Europa de llançament de javelina, en la modalitat de discapacitat visual, i va confirmar la seua presència en l’elit internacional. Va assolir el seu objectiu en el seu tercer Campionat d’Europa i es va penjar la medalla d’or.
Amb anterioritat, ja es va proclamar campió continental en l’edició Swansea’14. En el mundial de Londres de l’any passat va obtindre la medalla de bronze i ara el seu REPTE és arribar als Jocs de Tokio 2020, encara que continua amb el calendari de campionats.
Va participar en els JOCS PARALÍMPICS DE RÍO DE 2016 i fa uns mesos va batre el rècord del món paralímpic de javelina durant el transcurs del Campionat Autonòmic Absolut per Clubes (Ho va fer en la primera competició que vam fer a Gandia en la pista ja homologada).
Tot i que ell és d’Oliva, pertany al Club de Córrer el Garbí i el seu vincle amb la nostra ciutat és molt estret. Va ser un dels padrins de la Volta a Peu de la Fundació Espurna i va participar en el Dia Olímpic que va celebrar la nostra ciutat abans d’estiu. A més, ha estat distingit també com a Millor Esportista de Gandia.

Així que vull donar-li l’enhorabona pel seu triomf, per ser un fantàstic ambaixador de la nostra ciutat arreu del món. Ell fa que Gandia siga reconeguda dins i fora pels seus esportistes, i això no fa més que donar-nos prestigi com la Ciutat Esportiva i Saludable que som. I també és necessari reconèixer l’esforç, la dedicació, la constància, la disciplina i els durs entrenaments que realitza cada dia per superar-se. Diuen que una persona no és allò que aconsegueix sinó allò que supera, i Héctor Cabrera se supera en cada prova i aconsegueix èxits més importants”.
L’alcaldessa també ha felicitat el Club de Córrer El Garbí i els seus entrenadors per tota la tasca que realitzen. “Una tasca que els ha posicionat com un club referent en la nostra ciutat que es caracteritza per promoure i participar en moltíssimes activitats. (Mitja Marató Ciutat de Gandia, San Silvestre, Levántate Corriendo….”.
Per la seua Banda, Cabrera ha expressat el seu agraïment a la ciutat, en la qual passa moltes hores i que li ha mostrat sempre molts reconeixements: “Gran part del meu cor ja forma part de Gandia. És tot un orgull portar el nom del club i la ciutat. El treball diari dels nostres clubs fa que cada vegada hi hagen més esportistes a Gandia que aconsegueixen importants èxits”.
Mas ha mostrat l’orgull que representa per al CC El Garbí tindre “un referent de l’esforç, la constància i el sofriment. És un gran atleta, però millor persona”.
Finalment, la regidora d’Esports i ex-esportista d’elit, Lydia Morant, ha felicitat també Héctor pels resultats i la trajectòria esportiva, així com al club per la seua tasca.
