Un portavoz de Air India, Praveen Bhatnagar, indicó a Efe que el vuelo salió el 27 de febrero hacia la ciudad californiana con una tripulación integrada únicamente por mujeres, que hizo el trayecto de regreso el pasado viernes a la capital india.
Bhatnagar explicó que la tripulación incluía un doble grupo de pilotos, como normalmente es preceptivo para vuelos de gran duración.
El portavoz señaló que de esta manera la compañía da un mensaje de «igualdad de oportunidades» para todos sus empleados y agregó que aunque este vuelo fue planificado, los viajes con tripulaciones femeninas se repetirán de acuerdo a la planificación normal de la aerolínea.
El vuelo con tripulación únicamente femenina se produce después de que en enero Air India decidiera establecer que todos sus trayectos tengan asientos reservados para mujeres que viajen sin acompañante.
Air India adoptó esta política después de que una pasajera denunciase haber sido acosada precisamente durante un vuelo a Estados Unidos.
