El gandiense será uno de los nadadores de toda España que participan en el reto Mójate por la Vida
La travesía, transcurrirá del 22 al 26 de agosto en el Parque Natural Cabo de Gata, que además será la actividad principal del 30 aniversario de este espacio natural
Un grupo de 10 nadadores de varias provincias españolas han puesto en marcha el reto solidario deportivo “Mójate por la vida”. Su objetivo es recaudar fondos para la investigación contra el cáncer infantil, en concreto para poner en marcha una Unidad de Terapias Avanzadas en el Hospital La Paz de Madrid, unidad que lidera la Fundación Cris.
Desde la organización han invitado a nadadores de toda España a participar en el reto, entre ellos el gandiense Rubén Mateo, maestro de 37 años residente en Alicante y perteneciente al club de natación rc7 de la localidad, que comenzó a nadar hace 4 años en aguas abiertas. Rubén Mateo ha decidido colaborar con este proyecto por “la calidad humana de la organización e implicación en la batalla contra el cáncer, al unir deporte y solidaridad. Además que su realización sea en Cabo de Gata, lugar que me trae buenos recuerdos por las vacaciones vividas con mis amigos y amigas”
Para conseguirlo Rubén entrena entre una hora y media y dos horas, y ha participado ya en varias travesías este año como la de Tabarca a Alicante de 21 km, o Navia 5.000 metros.
Este grupo de personas, conocedoras de las aguas abiertas y que han organizado travesías con anterioridad, han venido desarrollando varias actividades a lo largo de 2017, siendo la más importante la que se desarrollará en el mes de agosto: “Cabo de Gata – Níjar Swim Project”, una travesía no competitiva de 60 kilómetros entre Carboneras y el núcleo pesquero de Cabo de Gata en 5 etapas consecutivas. Para realizar esta hazaña contará con el apoyo en mar abierto de Pescartes – Asociación de Pescadores Artesanales de Cabo de Gata Níjar, conocedores y protectores del Parque Marítimo – Terrestre Cabo de Gata – Níjar, y del Club de Piragüismo Los Troncos. Así como con el apoyo en tierra de los servicios de Protección Civil de los Ayuntamientos de los municipios de este parque natural, Carboneras, Níjar y Almería.
Esta actividad se ha diseñado teniendo en cuenta las características tan peculiares que tiene el geoparque y buscando preservar y respetar en todo momento los tesoros escondidos bajo sus aguas. Es por ello que la entidad conservadora del Parque Natural Cabo de Gata – Níjar y la Delegación Provincial de Almería de Medio Ambiente y Ordenación del Territorio se han mojado con ellos, y han incluido esta actividad dentro del 30 aniversario de este espacio natural.
Estos deportistas se pueden apadrinar mediante la compra de 10 metros por 1 euro, metros que se pueden adquirir físicamente a cada uno de ellos o a través de la plataforma de crowfunding que ha habilitado la Fundación Cris para esta iniciativa: https://solidarios.criscancer.org/fundraisers/cabo-de-gata-swim-project-mojate-por-la-vida.
También os podéis mojar por la vida comprando el merchandising que han puesto a la venta para recaudar fondos. Actualmente llevan recaudados aproximadamente 28.000,00 euros, entre aportaciones de empresas y ciudadanos, siendo su objetivo llegar a la cifra de 60.000,00 euros.
