MADRID. – Madrid aún conserva 40 monumentos, placas y otros vestigios en homenaje a dirigentes del franquismo. Además, unas 300 calles llevan nombres que recuerdan a golpistas de 1936 y cargos políticos del régimen de Franco, según diversos colectivos por la Memoria.
Este domingo 20 de noviembre, coincidiendo con el 41 aniversario de la muerte del dictador, un total de 29 organizaciones por la Memoria Histórica se han reunido en la Puerta del Sol para exigir que se retiren de una vez todos los signos franquistas que aún quedan en la capital.
«Es necesario hacer limpieza en Madrid. Estamos hartos de la impunidad y de la atención que recibe la Fundación Francisco Franco, mientras que a nosotros no nos atienden», comenta a Público Julián Rebollo de la Plataforma contra la Impunidad del Franquismo. Esta y otras organizaciones reclaman al Ayuntamiento de Madrid un compromiso serio para eliminar cualquier vestigio franquista. Por ello, han solicitado que en el próximo Pleno de diciembre se apruebe la retirada y eliminación de la ciudad de Madrid de todas las calles, monumentos, placas o cualquier símbolo franquista que sea de competencia municipal.
Junto a esta reclamación han adjuntado un primer listado con 133 calles y monumentos que recuerdan y rinden homenaje al golpe de estado y la dictadura franquista.
A través de un comunicado, las organizaciones condenan las presiones mediáticas y políticas que recibe el Ayuntamiento de Madrid para impedir la retirada de la simbología franquista, así como la «respuesta conciliadora» de los responsables municipales. Además, recuerdan la obligación de cumplir la legislación internacional que prohíbe la glorificación del nazismo y el fascismo y la ley vigente, a la que consideran insuficiente. «Hay mucha presión por parte de la derecha que hace que el Ayuntamiento no actúa de forma contundente ante esta situación», critica Julián.
