De los más de 80 millones de vacunas de la covid que se habían inoculado en España hasta el pasado 9 de enero, Sanidad había registrado más de 55.455 efectos adversos, lo que significa que unas 69 personas por cada 100.000 dosis inoculadas han sufrido hasta ahora alguna reacción al antídoto contra el coronavirus.
En los últimos meses, la vacuna de Moderna está siendo la auténtica protagonista de las terceras dosis o dosis de refuerzo, al igual que en la vacunación del año pasado lo fue Pfizer. Y, si por algo se está haciendo notar Moderna, al menos en el boca a boca entre la población, es por la supuesta intensidad de sus efectos secundarios, algo que ha llevado a muchos a mirar con respeto esta tercera dosis y a esperar de ella, cuanto menos, un mal día.
Lo más habitual entre los que sufren efectos adversos es tener fiebre, cansancio o dolor en la zona de vacunación, así como cefaleas, mareos y dolor muscular. Sin embargo, a esta lista ahora hay que añadir otra reacción que esta misma semana ha sido admitida por el Ministerio de Sanidad en su último informe de Farmacovigilancia como un efecto secundario más de la vacuna de Moderna: la parestesia.
Qué es la parestesia
La parestesia es una sensación anormal que se siente en el cuerpo debido a la compresión o irritación de los nervios y que se suele manifestar en forma de hormigueo, entumecimiento, picazón o incluso con pinchazos. De forma común, la parestesia puede ser descrita como la sensación de que una parte del cuerpo «se nos ha dormido».
En el caso de la vacuna de Moderna, esa sensación de hormigueo no se debe a la compresión inmediata de un nervio, como ocurre cuando se nos duerme por ejemplo una pierna debido a estar en una postura incómoda o en la que presionamos un nervio. En estos casos, en cuanto adoptamos otra postura, el nervio se libera y la parestesia o entumecimiento desaparece.
Pero en el caso de la vacuna de Moderna, la parestesia aparece de repente y su presencia no guarda relación con la postura en la que se encuentre la persona vacunada. Es, simplemente, un efecto adverso de la vacuna. El porqué aparece en unas personas sí y en otras no podría estar relacionado con otro tipo de causas.

Leising said she had voted for Trump three times. But she was unhappy with the president’s efforts to pressure Indiana into scrapping and replacing its congressional maps as part of a nationwide arms race ahead of next year’s midterm elections.

“You wouldn’t change minds by being mean. And the efforts were mean-spirited from the get-go,” she said. “If you were wanting to change votes, you would probably try to explain why we should be doing this, in a positive way. That never happened, so, you know, I think they get what they get.”

Sen. Greg Goode, whose town hall in Terre Haute this fall revealed massive public opposition to mid-decade redistricting, said the new maps would splinter communities with similar interests. He also criticized “over-the-top pressure from inside the Statehouse and outside,” as well as “threats of violence, acts of violence.”
